Emerging
As we begin another solar year and move into Spring thoughts of emerging come to mind. Those first shoots begin to sprout from the seeds that were sowed and have germinated in the darkness.
In November we moved into the 6th Day of the Galactic cycle on the Mayan Calendar. The 5th Night is always the most difficult period in any cycle. It is the period when a global event occurs that will cause a huge shift, thrusting us into new consciousness. We were all happy to see the 5th Night come to an end and hopeful about the dawning of the new Day.
Even after the dawning of the new Day people still felt the heaviness. We then moved into our winter trip to the underworld, the time of introspection and deep soulful work. It can either be looked at as the planting of the seeds or the cutting out of the dead wood, or both.
The thing to keep in mind is that we need all these phases of the cycle. Even though we may feel that we are back in the same place or down in the dumps…again, try to look at the quality of where you are standing and see if it really is the same?
Our progression through life is like a spiral. It may seem like a circle, always coming back to the same place, but look more closely. We revisit the same issues but at a different level. Cycles over lap and intertwine. The deeper we go, the more layers we peel away and the closer we get to core issues.
We have reached a point in our spiritual evolution that is not for the faint of heart. We are evolving quickly and deeply. As a species we only use 10% of our DNA. The rest is called, by scientists, “junk DNA” or “useless DNA”. Very unlikely that in this Divine creation that is man that 90% of our DNA is “useless” or “junk”. Our bodies expend energy to make something that is “junk”? Unlikely.
Many esoteric teachers believe that this ‘extra’ DNA is the key to our spiritual evolution, or resolution. They believe that the entire history of mankind is contained in this 90% of ‘inactive’ DNA. This is also a concept reflected in the Mayan Calendar. To be completely evolved all of creation will take place at one time. So what does all of this have to do with emerging? DNA is a blueprint or seed and I believe they are screaming to emerge.
A general feeling these days is one of rage, which for people on a spiritual path this is often difficult to embrace in ourselves. We feel that we should be moving to acceptance, so why are we in rage! Rage is fire. If we don’t listen to our fire we will explode. It often starts as anger or frustration and when not addressed turns to rage.
Around the time of the beginning of the 6th Day I was having a conversation with a student about emerging. We were talking about blossoming. I suddenly had a vision of a rose bud. The rose bud was just about to open, blossom. I felt this huge surge of energy, a build up necessary to cause the bud casing to split and allow the bud to open. I had never thought about this before, how much energy it must take for a flower to blossom. That last little push to break through. Similar to the last push to expel the baby from the birth canal.
When we talk about blossoming we usually focus on the beautiful outcome, the flower. But it is a process, and apparently not an easy one! My feeling is that we are now in that phase of blossoming or emerging. The energy is building and for us that comes out in emotion (energy in motion).
The flower doesn’t pass judgment on what is happening. The build up is part of the process, a necessary part of the process. For us when the energy builds (the fire) and begins to move we feel we need to translate it, explain it. When we do we use language or experience we know. Fire is powerful and often feels like anger or rage. Perhaps it is just fire, just a build up of energy, and we don’t know what to do with it, or how to just sit with it.
It we are evolving and changing rapidly then we will be experience things in new ways or new things. Perhaps our old experiences can no longer explain our new feelings. Or the frustration may come when dealing with others, when they experience us to react as we use to, or stop us from reacting at all. The energy may be flowing and not finding an outlet.
We are always given the tools or lessons we need to navigate through and the opportunity to practice. Perhaps the trick it to find the outlets for this build-up of energy, now that Spring is upon us we can use that energy for nurturing the new growth.
Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on emerging.

Good morning Leslie,
thank you for starting this blog.. I feel the light.. At the same time, I feel that difficult process or energy building up before blossoming . Difficult situations that might usually put me in rage happen to be accepted much more easier than expected. Disappointment is as far as it gets with me and it doesn't stay for long. Strange enough I notice that I might be in a situation that appears like I'm stuck but deep inside I know I'm not.. even though the way out is not clear. Surprising myself, I'm taking things as lightly as if they're already resolved! It's surrender in action! Something in my heart tells me everything WILL BE ALRIGHT.. and I need to worry free.. and I'm listening to that easily even though from the outside I might appear insane!! Like the fool on the tarot card, remember?!! I do identify with it!
I feel highly supported.. I believe everyone is, it's just that not everyone realizes it.

The fact that you are noticing the difference in your responses is really positive. That is the concept of the spiral, we keep coming back to the same place, but in a new or different way. That shows that we have moved, we have shifted. And your position as the observer of your own life, or to your own reactions, is the place you need to be. In time you will be able to take the observer position in the moment, even while you are in the situation no matter how difficult it is. This is the point you want to be at and it is unfolding. In time the feeling of disappointment will turn to acceptance of the situation as you begin to see why it HAS to be this way in order to have complete clarity. Step by step. Being stuck is just a pause, a breath so theat the answer has space to unfold.
It is when we can see and embrace our own insanity that we begin the real healing. Eckhart Tolle speaks a lot about this in his lovely book A New Earth. So take that leap of Faith, like the Fool, the abyss is full of infinite possibliities!
